Playa Avellanas Costa Rica

Avellanas Beach is a gorgeous stretch of sand along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. On the Southern end, you will find the funky little town of Avellanas with world-famous Lola's Restaurant, former home of the famous pig. The restaurant serves up great seafood and cocktails in an open air environment. On the North, Playa Avellanas borders Hacienda Pinilla, where you can rent wonderful homes and condos from us!

Within Pinilla, you will find a wonderful beach club that is open to the public unless reserved for private parties. It includes a large pool, showers, beach bar, restaurant, meeting area, and child care facilities.

Playa Avellanas is a well-known surfing beach. World famous Little Hawaii sits directly in front of the beach club. This reef break peels on a medium tide and holds very large swells.

There are also other good breaks that are more geared towards intermediate and beginners including the river mouth and the break in front of Lola's. Ask a local where the rocks are if you are surfing here for the first time.

If you want to relax and read a book, walk to the portion of the Avellanas just South of the river mouth and you will find shade trees along the beach.
